SoKno Pride 2023

I had a quick email chat with the Co-Founder of SoKno Pride Jimi Miller recently. I first met Jimi via social media in 2021 as I planned to attend South Side Pride as a vendor/performer in the Knox Chalk Car. I think all the attendants of that first event can agree the positive energy from an idea expressed on a social media community to the event was momentous. Honestly, I felt like we all needed some encouragement for 2021 after such a rough year in 2020. This event gave me not just encouragement, it also renewed my belief that we all can make a difference. I'm happy to share this organization's information and events.

Jimi expressed his deep thanks and a request for continued love and support, "Sokno Pride was born in 2021, with the intention of bringing the LGBTQIA+ community together in the form of a drag brunch. Before it even started it grew into something much bigger than I could have ever dreamed of. Planning this event has shown me that our community is capable of so much love and compassion. I want to thank you all for supporting this event and helping me shape it into something that our community needs, now more than ever. Please continue to love and support each other and do your part to make the community feel safe. "

Previous Co Leader Jimi Miller posted on South Side Pride's Social Media "Greetings everyone,

We are excited to announce Sokno Pride 2022 (formerly known as South Side Pride) will be coming to Sevier Avenue again this June 11th!

A new Facebook page will be up and running shortly to keep everyone in the loop better about all the exciting events we have in store for this year. A link for that will be added here when it is ready to go, so keep your eyes open for that.

We also want to thank everyone for supporting Pride in South Knoxville in 2021. The event was an amazing display of how the LGBTQ+ community can be so supportive of one another. We cannot wait to see everyone again this June 11th!

Thank you and stay tuned... "
